Student Engagement and Assessment Using your iPad

Primary Presenter: Pam Schuckies

Co-Presenter: Michael Stanley of Community College of Aurora

Organization: eInstruction

Track: Exhibitor Presentation

Level: For Mere Mortals

Abstract: Wondering how to get better value from your school’s investment in iPads? Use a teacher’s iPad as a control deck for teaching from anywhere in the room - controlling your computer and clickers, annotating teaching materials. Place  unique “cue tags” into existing content, instantly creating a clicker question. Extend student engagement by providing interactive tablets for your students to allow them to interact with the content. All controlled through your iPad for real-time formative assessment.

Bio: Pam’s graduate degrees and background are in special education, instructional technology and information systems development.  She currently supports higher education customers for eInstruction in the Rocky Mountain Region. Michael is a Captain and 18-year veteran of the Aurora Fire Department and EMS paramedics. He holds a Masters degree in Education and Human Resources and is on the faculty of Community College of Aurora.

Description: We will be demonstrating effective instructional practices using eInstruction’s Insight 360 software/hardware with curriculum content from the Emergency Medical Services Training program at Community College of Aurora.  Insight 360 has been built from the ground up to be extremely user friendly, focusing on the functionality that is used most often in student response systems and interactive whiteboards - and integrating it into one system, controlled by either a handheld tablet, or an iPad.  Join us to see how this system differs from others you may have seen before, and experience how easy it can be to use powerful technology in your classroom.
