Open up your mind to a new personal geography of technology as we share favorite Apps to enhance learning where it really matters: in your day-to-day life. Whether it’s staying abreast of trends, in touch with friends, or on top of loose ends – these mini-programs can offer big impact in your personal and professional lives.

Bios: We focus on incorporating useful technology into active teaching/learning, both to enhance the experience itself and to enhance the process of the creative mind. We believe in classrooms without borders and in the infinite power of human curiosity.

Description: Apps – short for “applications” – are software programs that you use online or on your smartphone, tablet, or other mobile device. In the past few years, Apps have revolutionized daily life by allowing ordinary individuals, who are not software-writing experts, to customize a device to suit certain wants or needs. There are literally hundreds of thousands of Apps out there just waiting to make your life more fun, more efficient, more interesting, and sometimes more frustrating. (You have to be careful where you play Scrabble and who you play it with!) In fact, Apps have become so important and so ubiquitous in our society that last year, the American Dialect Society highlighted “App” as the word of the year for 2010. This session will have you singing Up with Apps … even if you’ve never loaded one down! So come wrap up your 2012 COLTT Conference experience with an energizing technology round-up of our Top Apps.
