Abstract: Google Apps in Education is becoming one of the most popular ways students interact and share content. Moodle is also the World's most popular learning management systems. The integration of these two popular systems is possible, and the Google-Moodle Module is free and easily installed. During this presentation participants will see how a K-12 school district and university are incorporating Moodle and Google Apps.

 

Bio: Mr. Pillow is currently working in the School of Education at MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU). In the position, he has developed the technology courses that partner with the education sequence classes, Technology and the Exceptional Learner, Technology and Differentiated Instruction, and Technology with Curriculum and Assessment. As an educational technology leader, Steve has been a trainer for the Technology Leadership Academy in Missouri, a technology specialist, and the director of technology prior to going to work for MNU. Steve continues to conduct workshops at national conferences and for districts in Kansas and Missouri.

 

Description: This presentation guides participants in a hands-on session with Google and Moodle 2 integration showing how to be more efficient in course design. Benefits of the Moodle and Google Apps Education Edition Integration

• Productivity – Add the extremely useful productivity functions of Google Apps Education Edition to Moodle, creating a powerful, all-in-one platform.

• Single Sign-On – Users are automatically logged in to Google when they log in to Moodle so they don't have to sign in twice.

• Convenience – Google Apps tools can be accessed from within Moodle without taking users away from the original page. Features open in a new tab, allowing users to easily go back and forth between Moodle and Google.

• Communication – In addition to the chat and forum discussion features of Moodle, users can also communicate using the well-known G-mail feature of Google Apps.

• Collaboration – Groups can synchronously work together on documents, presentations, etc., in Google Docs and chat without being in the same place

• Versioning – Google Apps provides a single productivity suite for everyone to use, eliminating issues regarding different versions of programs or files.
