Bio: Joined CU/Leeds School of Business in August, 2011, as an Instructor in the Center for Education on Social Responsibility. Prior to joining CESR, I taught for 4 years at DU, BELS department, Leeds School of Business. I began as an adjunct, teaching each quarter consecutively for three years prior to her 2010 appointment as lecturer. In those few years, I rose to the second highest rated teacher, not just in the Daniels College, but throughout the University of Denver. Further, during my time at DU, I completed the following:

• developed and created the curriculum for four new undergraduate courses

• completed a Distance Learning Course with the Center for Teaching and Learning on how to incorporate technology into courses and how to develop online course curriculum

• launched the first online version of the required business course "The Business Environment"

• established the undergraduate Mock Trial Team

• was nominated for several advising and teaching awards

Description: Presentation Objective: To demystify the fear surrounding technology for the non-tech savvy instructor. To help instructors see how new online sites and other technology can be quite user friendly and useful in managing their busy schedules. Outline: 1. Tech for Office Hours: how to use signupgenuis.com or wejoinin.com to create office hour slots and encourage attendance; 2. Tech for Group Meetings: how to use doodle.com to encourage and facilitate group meetings among students and teachers; 3. Tech for Student Feedback: how to create surveys and polls to improve the quality of teaching and to solicit feedback from students before the end of the semester; 4. Tech for Virtual Presentations: how to use lecture capture technologies to train new instructors and assist students who miss lecture for excused absences or illnesses; 5. Tech for Group Work: how to use Wikis and encourage student groups and classes to share and collaborate online; and 6. Tech for Keeping the Learning Going: how to use blogging and Facebook to engage students in "their domain" and outside the classroom. Expected Outcomes: Attendees will feel comfortable incorporating one or more of the above strategies to close the tech gap between themselves and their students and increase efficiencies and critical thinking throughout their courses.
