CSU-Global Campus Enhances Learning While Tracking Outcomes

Primary Presenter: Jodie Hemerda

Co-Presenter: Tess Bader

Organization: CSU-Global

Role: Director of Technical Operations

Track: Demonstration

Level: Cutting Edge

Abstract: CSU-Global Campus’ online assessment model comes to life in this session. This demo will illustrate the university’s use of a web-based assessment tool in an online classroom from the student and instructor perspectives. This online solution for cutting-edge instructional feedback works as a standalone software and as a custom integration with your LMS. It allows instructors and administrators to build competency based rubrics that tie to outcomes at the university, program and course levels.

Bio: As Director of Technical Operations, Jodie Hemerda is responsible for the stability, growth, and performance of all technical operations and infrastructure, including but not limited to the online student management and learning platform, the consumer-facing website, and the conversion of support department processes to an online environment. This role is pivotal in the planning and expansion of the online university.

Description: Members of CSU-Global Campus will take you inside a CSU-Global online classroom under multiple roles. From an instructor perspective, participants will experience how this innovative technology allows consistent assessment feedback to students directly into the student's paper using outcome connected review tools. The student experience will showcase accessing assessment-based feedback directly through a detailed mark-up of the student’s paper. With this tool, CSU-Global Campus’ faculty have the ability to link rubric data scores from course assessments to program level learning outcomes. This demonstration will highlight the end-user experience as well as how the data is used to improve student learning and support programmatic change. Presenters will engage participants with a live demonstration of an online course to answer any questions and test the limits of assessment. Participants will be asked to share their current feedback and institutional assessment processes as a way to connect their experience with the CSU-Global Campus model.
